powdered indian billie pepper

billie piper made from powdered indian chili pepper.

i first became a fan of billie piper's when she played rose tyler on the new "dr. who" series. since then, i've enjoyed her roles in both "secret diary of a call girl" and "the sally lockhart mysteries".

i can't for the life of me get into her music though...

happy new year's eve! only 31 more fugitives to go!

max fishershey's kisses

jason schwartzman as max fisher from "rushmore" made from two hershey's kisses.

i can't tell you why i'm fascinated by this video of wes anderson and jason schwartzman at a borders books, but i am.

aleve zissou

bill murray as steve zissou made from six crushed aleve tablets.

i heart bill murry with a beard and mustache.

speaking of mustaches, leff and i have started a new project called "mustache guestbook". it's goofy and totally sfw so go ahead and click through!

creamy italian salad wessing

wes anderson made from creamy italian salad dressing.

i love everything that wes anderson has done. (well, except for "the darjeeling limited"). i mean, i even liked this commercial.  (but, seriously, not "the darjeeling limited".)

royal tennebalms

margot and richie tennebaum made from tinted lip balm.

"the royal tennebaums" is my third favorite wes anderson movie. (my first will always be "bottlerocket".) i saw this one on opening night at the studio on the square. thrilling, what?

candy caine

michael caine made from blitzed candy canes.

a word to the wise: don't pulverize candy canes in your blender and then try to work with them. your fingers will be coated with the stuff.

at least it's tasty.

i think i'll watch "the italian job" now. the 1969 version, of course.

fake snow banks

since i wasn't completely happy with the original snow banks, i decided to make a new ty ty. this time out of fake snow.

(tyra banks made from fake snow.)

in the new year, i'm going to work on this love/hate thing i have going on with tyra banks by ignoring everything she has anything to do with. should work out just fine.

i'll post a "xmas surprise" a little later on today.

update: sorry. there will be no "xmas surprise". i hadn't counted on how physically draining things are now that i'm not operating at full capacity. again, sorry. and happy holidays if you happen to celebrate one.

new fugitive tomorrow!

josephine bakering soda

josephine baker made from baking soda.

is it possible to be too beautiful and talented? not if you're josephine baker! i'm telling you, i could watch videos of her all day!

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

herbal essences

herb alpert made from herbal essences conditioner.

i won't lie to you. i only made a herb alpert portrait so i could link to this video of "spanish flea".

it has everything except for lyrics. but you can hear those here.

snow banks

tyra banks on acetate on snow.

yes, yes. it would have worked better if she had been made of snow. but a) i'm not supposed to bend over per neurosurgeon's orders and b) i'm not supposed to bend over per neurosurgeon's orders. so, you know, there we are.

thanks to leff for taking both the photo and acetate outside.

porteney cox

courteney cox made from port on rice paper.

courteney cox is one of my favorite links when playing six degrees of jessica fletcher. (she was in the "death stalks the big top" two part episode of "murder, she wrote".)

from that one show it's possible to connect angela lansbury to owen wilson. (angela lansbury --> courteney cox --> cc in "scream" with drew barrymore --> who was in "home fries" with luke wilson --> who was in "bottlerocket" with his brother owen wilson. hooray!)

also, hooray! i've caught up on all the fugitives from the week i was out which means that i can *finally* sleep off this pain med! see you tomorrow!

nestlita ford

lita ford made from nestle's chocolate syrup slurry.

i still listen to "kiss me deadly" from time to time. uh huh. it ain't no big thing.

american ferrera

america ferrera as ugly betty on american cheese.

even though it doesn't have america ferrera in it, my favorite clip from "ugly betty" is of amanda singing milkshake. it never fails to slay me.

gimlever 2000

john rhys-davies as gimli made from lever 2000 body wash on rice paper.

i'm kinda' disappointed that you can't see the green tint to the body wash.

anyway, so ends the lotr fugitivesplosion. if you want to see them all at the same time, here's the flickr set.

also, a big thanks to leff who's been helping me through the recuperation process. i hope you enjoyed the set, bf extraordinaire!

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

ground aracorn pops

viggo mortensen as aragorn made from ground corn pops cereal.

i can't find a clip of aragorn saying "into the wild". it's sad really because leff and i still say that quite a bit.

anyway, one more lotr fugitive and then i'll move on from the bf's favorite triology. in fact, just two more fugitives and i'll be caught up on the week that i missed! hooray!

golplum sauce

weta's interpretation of gollum made from plum sauce on rice paper.

i'm glad that leff and i aren't the only people who found the "po-ta-toes" scene to be so wonderful.

admit it. you've been saying "boilem, mashem, stickem in a stew" ever since you first heard it. precious.

jamwise gamjeans

alternately, it could be samwise jamjeans but "jamjeans" is such a gross word.

sean astin as samwise gamgee in jam on a pair of old bootcut jeans.

i *know* i'm not the only person who kept saying "down here it's our time, mr. frodo! it's our time down here!" while watching "lotr", right?

oh, and ps--more conchords/lotr goodness

tomorrow's fugitive will be a bit late

i have my first physical therapy appointment and i'm not sure how long it'll take or how strenuous it's going to be.

but i promise, *pinky swear*, that there will be a fugitive up before midnight (pst) on tues.

pregolas

orlando bloom as legolas made from prego.

today is another medical visit day so i don't really have a lot to write. sorry.

related: orlando broom.

s'moreomir

sean bean as boromir as a s'more.

leff proclaimed this s'more to be chewy. that's probably because our marshmallows were pretty darn old. which brings me to this question: have you ever managed to finish an entire bag of marshmallows? i mean, not counting youth group functions and at camp and such.

Saturday, December 13, 2008

caramelized onion dippin

billy boyd as pippin made from caramelized onion dip.

i know that there are some of you who will disagree with me but i've always thought that billy boyd was the most attractive hobbit. i mean, other than figwit, of course. (i've documented my adoration of all things conchords before.)

strawmerry shampoo

dominic monaghan as merry from "lotr" made from strawberry shampoo.

here's how much of a geek i am. leff and i were watching "the fellowship of the ring" in the theatre and i was all "isn't that the kid from "hetty wainthropp investigates?!" (it's funny 'cause it's true.)

Friday, December 12, 2008

frodolce de leche

elijah wood as frodo baggins made from dulce de leche.

look, i know that this leonard nimoy song is about bilbo and not frodo but, come on, it's about a hobbit. plus, i enjoy linking to it whenever there's even the thinnest of a connection. see? here it is again!

cheese whizard (for leff)

ian mckellen as gandalf made from cheese whiz.

i think i might make a week of "lotr" images. oh, also...you shall not pass.

Thursday, December 11, 2008

swiss kiss

kiss on swiss cheese.

was i ever in the kiss army? no. but i've always kinda' wished my name was beth so i could've a halfway decent song with my name in it. (the closest i've ever gotten is "sister christian". i mean, barf! night ranger! i'm *so* not motorin'.)

vinaigrettey page

edit: bettie page, you will be missed.

bettie page made from raspberry walnut vinaigrette.

goodness, but ms. page is eight kinds of awesome sauce! i stumbled across this video of her this morning. (possibly nsfw. you know, if your boss has strange hang ups.) and, while it's a tad longish, it's fantastic in that bettie does her adorable smile and eyebrow wiggle thing quite a few times.

also, she winks. which, let me tell you, somehow works for her. (winking is hard to pull off! for real!)

tom bakered beans (for leff)

tom baker made from baked beans.

i mistakenly thought that tom baker was one of leff's favorite doctors because of his curly hair. wrong. apparently, he was leff's "first doctor" and, well, you never forget your first doctor.

the latest vanity fair has lodged the multitalented fey firmly in my cerebral cortex. although, let's be honest. i think about how brilliant she is *waaaay* more than is healthy.

pamuel clemens

samuel clemens made from pam with flour.

last week, i read a lot of mark twain's works on google books. (i also watched a few twain documentaries on the xbox.)

i'd forgotten how much i enjoyed huck finn. i'd also forgotten how much it meant that my english teacher in middle school recommended it to me despite the school board's objection to the book.

i'm baaaaaaack

hello again, my most favorite readers in the world! i've been given the go ahead by the doctor to move around so i'll be getting back up to speed here at s&f. (if you require more info as to what's going on click here. although, for the life of me, i can't see why it would be interesting.)

ANYWAY, since i don't have a completed stencil yet, i thought i'd post a photo of one of my very first fugitives. here's a silkscreen of christ's head on a corn tortilla from 1998 entitled "eat me". (if i am anything, i'm irreverent.)

also, here's a lovely fugitive rakka lamb grill steak that mr. hyde made for me! thanks so much! (and thanks to all of the other well wishers out there!)

(original here)

new fugitive coming up soon! i'll also be playing catch up on the week that i missed.

on hiatus

hey, loyal readers. here's the thing. i have to get an mri. i'm on pain med that knocks me out and i'm not sure if i'm going to have to start physical therapy or not.

what that means for you is that there probably won't be anything to read here for a while. i'm not sure how long i'll be away but i'll try to complete the project by the end of jan if possible. if i can't, i'm sorry. i will, however be attempting to start a new 365 project in 2009. hopefully in feb.

thanks for stopping by. here's hoping i'll be able to bring you daily programming again soon!

Monday, December 1, 2008

hopefully back tomorrow

this leg thing is ridiculous. sorry about the programming interruption.

bill nyqil the science guyqil

bill nye made from cherry nyquil.

those of you who don't live in seattle may not know about nye's work in "almost live". here's my favorite of his clips, "speedwalker".

(thanks again to leff for all of his help this weekend!)

mary tyler mooretilla

mary tyler moore in hot sauce on a flour tortilla.

if i ever make it to minneapolis, i'm *totally* buying a tamoshanter so i can throw it in the air.

a special thanks goes out to leff, the greatest bf in the world, who pushed the hot sauce through the stencil. (i hurt my leg and am unable to stand at the moment. (i'm telling you, i hit 35 and i freakin' fall apart!))

big petezza sauce and cloris bleachman

mike maronna as big pete wrigley (from "the adventures of pete and pete") made from pizza sauce.

i've always kinda' crushed on mike maronna (even though he's my little bro's age and that weirds me out a teeny bit). i mean, i even liked him as stuart, the ameritrade shill.

but enough about that, here's cloris bleachman.

cloris leachman made from bleach.

some people may know her from her stint on "dancing with the stars" but i'll always be fond of her role as phyllis lindstrom on "the mary tyler moore show".

stan lee made from cranberry sauce.

angela lansberry

angela lansbury made from the juice of heated blueberries.

i've admitted it before in public, so i'll admit it again. i love "murder, she wrote".

why? i'll give you two reasons. 1) it helps me fall asleep. (i'm a die hard insomniac and take the zzzzs however i can get them.) 2) it allows me to play six degrees of angela lansbury. for real, she's more connected than kevin bacon!

one way to kill a twinkie-- twinkeith richards

cakespy jessie is working on a top secret mission. since she has yet to divulge her plans, i can only tell you that i was assigned one way to kill a twinkie. i did that by making a twinkeith richards.

keith richards made from twinkie cream.

here's keith with the confection that has almost as long of a shelf life as he does.

i'll give you an updated cakespy link once the records have been released. until then, enjoy a related post: basalmick jagger.

salty dog

lassie made from salt.

arr and avast! leff's favorite gin drink is a salty dog. i prefer greyhounds when it comes to grapefruit juice cocktails.

you don't need to remember that, btw. there won't be a quiz.

sugaru miyamoto

shigeru miyamoto made from sugar.

i adore shigeru miaymoto. he's without a doubt my favorite video game designer in the world! (a close second, toru iwantani and then there's my great love for keita takahasi. but i digress...)

anyway, why am i bringing up the nintendo god today? because i just got "animal crossing: city folk". and while it wasn't designed by the great miyamoto, it is a wii game. a wonderful, wonderful wii game that will no doubt kill whatever remains of my social life.

bill haley's comet

bill haley made from comet cleaner.

i'm not a bill haley fan. (i'm also not really a fan of halley's comet. so disappointing.) still, haley's version of "rocket 88" wasn't that bad. even if "rock around the clock" makes me want to punch someone.

bertie woostershire sauce

yet another super quick wash drawing this morning. (sorry, i'm dealing with serious back pain.) today it's hugh laurie as wodehouse's bertie wooster made from worcestershire sauce.

if you've never seen the frye and laurie "jeeves and wooster" series, you should absolutely spend some time with it. clive exton, one of my favorite television writers, adapted it from the orignial stories which, btw, are also fantastic.

for your dining pleasure, here's an olbermann ink blot (also made of yakisoba sauce).
