flight of the concord grape juice

flight of the conchords (bret and jemaine) made from concord grape juice on cotton.

am i the boom king or what? (no. no, i'm not. the main reason being that i'm female and, therefore, more apt to be a boom queen. heh heh.)

hitchcock blonde--dippi hedren

tippi hedren made from red pepper dip.

this in no way implies that i find tippi hedren to be foolish.

hitchcock blonde--janet brie

janet leigh on a slice of brie.

a detail.

hitchcock blondes-- kim novac and grace belly

in keeping with alfredo hitchcock, i thought i'd make six of his "cool blondes".

here's kim novac. (kim novak on a vacuum cleaner.)

this in no way implies that i think that kim novak sucks.

here's the long shot for those of you interested in seeing what i vacuum with.

next up is grace belly. (grace kelly on a belly.)

many thanks to bonnie for the use of her stomach!

two more of hitchcock's blondes are coming up this afternoon! please check back!

back on friday!

sorry to post and run but i need to take some time off from the internet. i'll still be making fugitives (one every day, of course) and will be sure to post them all on friday.

see you on friday with four new pieces!

mike key

and now for the last "goonies" fugitive, sean astin as mikey made from the tiniest stencil.

i'm expecting this one to wear off pretty quickly since that particular key gets a lot of use.

one eyed willy

one eyed willy made with and surrounded by the rich stuff. or at least the candy version of the rich stuff.

lipgloss mouth

corey feldman as mouth made from generic vanilla lip gloss and urban decay's "flare" gloss.

i'll be honest with you. in 1985 i was crushing hardcore on this particular corey (corey haim could suck it for all i cared.) so a smoochy lipgloss portrait makes perfect sense to me in more ways than one.

although, if i'd made it when i was 12, it would've been composed of lipsmacker and would've smelled like chemical strawberries.

slick shoes

jonathan ke quan as data made from oil.

slick shoes are, without a doubt, my favorite invention of data's.

brandanna

josh brolin as brand on a bandanna in washable ink.

i would show you how to wear a bandanna all brand style but i don't ever want to look that 80's again, thanks.

rocky road chunk

quite like sloth, i love chunk.

i also love rocky road ice cream.

the two kinda' go together.

but do you know what i like even better than both of those things? when chunk screams. kinda' like this:

i would've done that louder but the walls in our apartment are really thin.

(an aside: right after i made the video, leff walked up behind me and said "andy! you goonie!" haha!)

Monday, June 16, 2008

hey, you guys! it's a week full of goonies!

that's right! a whole week full of characters from the goon docks.

and, in keeping with tradition at s&f, i've kicked things off with a fugitive that doesn't quite work. meh, i'm human.

it's sloth made from a baby ruth.

i thought i'd go for something subtle to reflect the tender portrayal of sloth in the movie..........

no, that's bullshit. in reality i tried about four different ways to get the baby ruth to turn into sloth but nothing worked. so i ended up using it like a piece of chalk to get the end result you see above. "like what?" you ask. just watch the video...

see, like chalk. it kinda' works. sort of.

anyway, come back tomorrow and i might have made something more closely resembling rich stuff.

pezzik

andre the giant as fezzik made from pez.

sorry to post this one so late in the day but do you know how effing hard it is to find pez in this damn city? do you? (i'll give you a hint. it's not effing easy.)

here's the last vizziknee update.

i know how you've grown to love leff's knee but i'm not expecting there to be any ink left on it tomorrow. such is life.

shrinky humperdinck

after inigo, i thought i'd go with something simple today. that's why i used our breakfast sushi cartons to make a shrinky humperdinck.

"what?" i can hear you asking. lemme' 'splain. you see, if you get some plastic that has a "6" in the recycle arrows, plastic like this:

but not this:

you can make shrinky dinks using these instructions.

why clear plastic and not the woodgrain? well, see, of these three humperdincks waiting to shrink

only two of them did.

the woodgrain one just stank. pretty badly, i might add.

anyway, yeah, that's how i ended up with a shrunken humperdinck.

you should make one of your own.

also, day three of the vizziknee.

Friday, June 13, 2008

hello, my name is inigo montoya.

edit, 8/12/11: By popular request, the Inigo image is now available as a shirt, a print and a sticker at Red Bubble!

Additionally, it's still in card form in my Etsy shop!

Tell your friends? Thanks!

5/9/2014:  this item is no longer available.

you killed my father. prepare to die.

there was no question as to what material needed to be used to make inigo montoya. here's a detail of the "hello, my name is" stickers.

also, an update! here's day two of the vizziknee. this time he's at a wading pool.

vizziknee

wallace shawn as vizzini drawn on a knee. here's a detail.

this has probably been the most fun fugitive to make so far. i couldn't stop laughing not only because a vizziknee is a ridiculous idea (i kept thinking about how it would rank up there with mr cool ice (but no, not quite) as one of the dumbest tattoos to get.) but also because knees are ticklish and leff kept giggling. you know, in a manly way.

oh yes, thanks to leff for the use of the knee!

i'll post a updated shot of the vizziknee tomorrow so you can see how it's fared after a day at a start up.

a week of "princess bride" starting with buttercup

"the princess bride" is one of my favorite movies. after watching it again last night, i realized that there were plenty of fugitives (literally and, er, this blog-ery) to be made!

today i'll start with robin wright penn as buttercup made from butter. you know, it would've been great to have things just, well, work on the first day of this series. naturally, that wasn't the case.

we'll get to the (fourth try) butter buttercup in a moment. first, however, the stencil. you can see the butter starting to ooze through.

and here's the butter buttercup.

i somehow don't think that robin wright penn has ever been that greasy in her entire life.

anyway, i'll be back tomorrow with another "princess bride" fugitive. hopefully that one will be more successful.

alexander graham bell pepper

alexander graham bell on a bell pepper.

my views of pa bell have changed since watching "through deaf eyes". prior to watching that documentary, i had no idea of his negative place in deaf history. (i highly recommend "through deaf eyes", btw.)

freaky friday!

i probably should have saved the duo of horror fugitives for next friday, the 13th but i couldn't wait.

here's chucky from "child's play" made with major grey's chutney to become a chutney chucky.

next up is my favorite scene from "children of the corn" on corn tortillas which makes it, you guessed it, "children of the corn tortillas".

in case you're unfamiliar with this movie, it's the scene where the red headed kid yells "outlander!!". it never fails to crack me up.

velvita von tesse

i'm feeling a lot better today than i thought i would (thanks for the well wishes, btw!) so i thought i'd knock out at least one fugitive to keep from getting too far behind. here's dita von teese made with velveeta cheese sauce.

i'm on a "soft diet" for a while which is why i had velveeta cheese sauce at home. normally, i wouldn't touch the stuff. (i'm living on this stuff plus mashed potatoes. it's a carbsplosion!)

back tomorrow with two more fugitives!

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

back on friday!

sadly, i'm once again in the middle of "tooth trauma" so i'll be taking a break until things are sorted out on the dental front.

thankfully, it's not as bad as the root canal of a few weeks ago but, well, let's just say i haven't had dental insurance...um...ever so i have a lot of catching up to do.

back on friday with three new fugitives! thanks again for your patience!

saran wrasputin

rasputin made from saran wrap.

i thought this one was kind of apt considering the way rasputin "clung" (*ba doom ching!* thank you, cleveland! i'll be here all week!) to life. i mean, how many times did people try to kill him? three? five?

Monday, June 2, 2008

conditionurse

florence nightingale made from hair conditioner.

since she's so difficult to make out, i thought i'd upload the stencil so you could see the detail that i couldn't pick up with the camera. (my photography skills aren't that advanced.)

provolone ranger

the lone ranger made from provolone cheese.
