happy halloween! i thought i'd end the month with two jack o'lanterns! (i'll update the site with the second after i get back from the dentist and carve it. edit: sorry, no time for an extra pumpkin.)
anyway, here's the first: a zack o'lantern.
zack morris from "saved by the bell" carved on a pumpkin.
i honestly *am* afraid of zack and his ilk. i mean, aren't you the tiniest bit frightened by a barely pubescent, spoiled d'bag? you know that kid's got effing helicopter parents...
for real though, i'm so excited, i'm so....scared!

tide of frankenstein
the bride of frankenstein made from tide laundry detergent.
i love the bird like motions of elsa lanchester in that clip.
i also adore her highlights. i'm thinking of doing that with all of my grey hairs instead of dying them pink. (j/k)

prella lugosi
bela lugosi made from prell shampoo.
i heart bela lugosi movies, i really do. but my favorite thing about mr. lugosi is the fact that he inspired this bauhaus song.

ameri-can werewolf in london
the david kessler character from "an american werewolf in london" as seen in the "nightmare scene" in the hospital (6:38-6:55)(part of video possibly nsfw)) on a can.
i watch "american werewolf" every year and, i swear, it's still as funny and incredible as the first time i saw it.
the sequel? let's just forget that i mentioned it...

ring dong and apple jackula
i still feel like crap but it's monday and time for two new fugitives.
first up, ring dong.
sadako from "the ring" on a ding dong.
i liked the original japanese version of this movie ("ringu") much more.
as far as koji suzuki's books go, the ring was the best of the trilogy, imho.
next, it's apple jackula.
william marshall as blackula made from apple jacks.
leff and i watched both "blackula" and "scream, blackula, scream" on saturday. there really isn't a greater double feature in existence.

leprechaun
leprechaun made from chocolate lucky charms cereal.
i must admit that i can't make it through an entire leprechaun movie. this is due mainly to my inability to stop laughing at the phrase "they're after me lucky charms!".
yes, i'm 12.

peter pumpkinhead
first up, a special hello to any daily candy readers who might have clicked through!
peter cushing's head on a pumpkin.
this one is a play on an old xtc song ("the ballad of peter pumpkinhead") that i used to get stuck in my head in the early '90s.
while i do always enjoy seeing mr. cushing in "star wars", it's most definitely his work in the hammer horror movies that i love the most. especially "dracula/horror of dracula".

reddie freddie
freddie krueger from "a nightmare on elm street" made from red halloween makeup.
the phrase "ready freddie" (it's at the 1:53 mark) always gets queen's "crazy little thing called love" stuck in my head.
"elm street" fun fact that you might've forgotten: johnny depp had one of his earliest roles in the first movie. here's the clip where his character bites it. (warning: goofy slasher movie violence)

children of the corn dogs
two of the children from "village of the damned" on veggie corn dogs.
beware the stare!
i won't lie, i liked the john carpenter version too.
Sunday, October 19, 2008
bruce campbell's cheese soup
bruce campbell from "evil dead" made from campbell's cheese soup.
in america, you swallow soup. in soviet russia, soup swallows your soul! what a country!!
Saturday, October 18, 2008
dawn of the dead
a zombie from "dawn of the dead" made from dawn dishwashing liquid on chipboard.
this is another one for shed who loves zombies.
i apologize for this one being so hard to see but, well, i've been in rural virginia for almost a week now and i'm starting to get worn out.

obama bake sale tonight in cap hill!
i thought i'd post about the obama bake sale that i made some cookies for because it's both stencily and nonarchival. (as well as sweet and tasty. who doesn't need a little sweetness on a friday?)
even though i won't be there, some cookies that i made will be so please drop by! there will be some wonderful ladies there!
what: obama bake sale
where: vermillion (1508 11th ave across the street from value village )
when: 7:00pm on friday, Oct. 17th

frankenwine
frankenstein's monster made from red wine.
i never thought that the monster in mary shelley's book was very frightening until my world lit prof recreated a scene from the book in class. seeing him jumping around and making monster noises was pretty scary! (haha! in a good way, of course. prof. torricelli, if you ever find this blog, you rock!)

franks
frank from "donnie darko" on veggie franks.
frank really, really scares the eff out of me. here, watch this and try not being freaked out.

ginger snaps crumbs
ginger and brigitte from "ginger snaps" made from ginger snaps crumbs.
god, i love "ginger snaps" (and the sequal. the third movie, uuuuhnm, not so much.) here's the trailer in case you're interested in seeing a female pubescent werewolf movie. (it *is* really awesome and awesomely gory.)

eclair witch project
the iconic image of heather from "the blair witch project" made from eclair cream.
you know, the innards of these little guys.
the months leading up to "the blair witch" were incredible. admit it, you were probably sucked into the web mythology too.
while the movie does seem dated now, after seeing it with friends in 1999, one of those friends refused to ever go camping again (and hasn't since to my knowledge) while the other smoked and cried for about an hour.
for real.
i just had a migraine. haha!

suspect and fugitive cards now available at nancy!
lizzie borden's condensed milk
lizzie borden made from borden's condensed milk.
is it still an american childhood ritual now to sing the lizzie borden song (it's near the beginning of the video) while jumping rope? do kids still jump rope?
anyway, it's good to hear that the battling lizzies finally settled things.
Sunday, October 12, 2008
cocoasferatu
nosteratu made from swiss miss cocoa mix.
the whole movie is on you tube. if you've never seen "nosferatu", i would highly recommend it. i love the film not only for the monster but also for the german expressionism. (i am, after all, a movie geek.)
Saturday, October 11, 2008
night of the living spread
zombie girl from "night of the living dead" made from olive and pimento spread.
this one's for shed who likes zombies even more than i do!
Friday, October 10, 2008
exorcist pea soup
the possessed version of regan from "the exorcist" made from condensed pea soup.
is there anything creepier than having this image staring out from your screen while you're working with smelly, cold pea soup?
oh, right. there is.
Thursday, October 9, 2008
the bad seeds
patty mccormack as rhoda penmark (a.k.a. the bad seed from the movie of the same name) made from sesame seeds.
this one is best viewed in small format or, if you're looking at the larger version, from across the room.
also? this picture scares the living shit out of me.

pamityville horror
the amityville horror house made with pam cooking spray.
i have to admit that i always found "the amityville horror" to be more funny than scary. still, you have to admire the gumption of the people who created the original scare story.
Monday, October 6, 2008
whipped scream
the scream mask made from whipped cream.
the opening to the first movie is one of my favorite horror scenes ever. i'd go so far as to say EVAR!
Sunday, October 5, 2008
pumpkinhead
pumpkinhead made from canned pumpkin.
i'm telling you, there's nothing like making a gigantic vengeance demon to get you in the halloween spirit.
also, there's nothing like referencing this movie to get me ready for my trip back to rural tennessee and virginia next week.
Saturday, October 4, 2008
manwichypoo
witchiepoo from "h.r. pufnstuf" made from manwich sauce.
witchiepoo is frightening. for reals. but then again, so are most things that were in the sid and marty krofft canon.
Friday, October 3, 2008
jason vorcheese
jason voorhees from the "friday the 13th" series on cheddar cheese.
i will always love that "hahahaha/cheecheecheecheechee" noise.
Thursday, October 2, 2008
rosemary's baby powder
mia farrow as rosemary woodhouse in "rosemary's baby" made from baby powder.
you want to know what's really scary? there's a freakin' "rosemary's baby" remake in the works.

bucket of blood
hey, welcome to october! since my favorite "holiday" happens at the end of this month, i'm going to be making 31 creepy fugitives!
first up, it's a bucket of blood! (patricia routledge as hyacinth bucket from "keeping up appearances" made from fake blood.)(hyacinth video in case you're unfamiliar.)
tomorrow i'll continue with the "halloween theme".
ps-sorry about the technical difficulties yesterday. i was having trouble with my domain name provider. i guess you get what you pay for.
